‘Klarafestival 2017’

home sweet home

When people travel, for whatever reason, their music travels with them. Music is often the most vivid memory of their native land and offers solid footing. When composers migrate, they also use their music to enter into a dialogue with a new audience. Inter- and transcultural processes and exchanges come into existence, inspiration and creativity result. Consequently, there's not a place in the world with one-dimensional, 'pure' music or culture. It is precisely the dynamics of this interaction that bring to life cultures, and music is its beating heart.
On the programme of Klarafestival 2017 are works by the greatest composers who have poured their experiences of and emotions about their musical roots and identity, their banishment and their homesickness into their at once most poignant and most beautiful music.
