‘Taiwan Philharmonic’

19 Mar.'17
- 19:00

European Gala

With Taiwan Philharmonic, we play host to the oldest symphonic group of Taiwan. The Taiwanese group will immerse us in the music of the 19th and 20th centuries with Dvořák’s famous New World Symphony and the Third Symphony by the contemporary Taiwanese composer Gordon Chin, who was very influenced by György Ligeti. The Taiwanese-Australian violinist Ray Chen, winner of the 2009 Queen Elisabeth Competition, will interpret Prokofiev’s Second Concerto for violin, which shares the same lyricism and fervour as his ballet Romeo and Juliette, composed around the same time.
