European Gala

After its remarkable performance of all of Beethoven’s Concertos for piano, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra is returning to the Centre for Fine Arts with two jewels from the Czech repertoire: Smetana’s famous Moldau and Dvořák’s 7th Symphony, with its particularly Slavic accents. In counterpoint, the great Czech mezzo Magdalena Kožená, whose colourful voice and stage presence have already stunned audiences here at BOZAR on numerous occasions, will interpret a magnificent work by the Italian composer Luciano Berio. His Folk Songs, based on popular European tunes and songs, demonstrate the extremely diverse range of cultures that make up our continent.
