5 Reasons to Come to Club Night

For one night only, the Centre for Fine Arts will be transformed into a nightclub. Hop from one room to another, grab a drink and curate your own musical experience. Club Night's line-up features seven artists erasing the boundaries between jazz and electro. Here are five reasons why you should be there on 21 September.

  1. We welcome Alfa Mist as headliner

Alfa Mist has been around the London music scene since his teens. As a young hip-hop producer, his interest in sampling led him to jazz. Meanwhile, he may join the ranks of established Londoners Tom Misch, Loyle Carner and Jordan Rakei, all of whom he has already worked with. At Bozar, Alfa Mist will present his latest up-tempo record Variables, hailed by The Guardian as "warm, subtle jazz rubs shoulders with hip-hop and R&B in an evocative album that hits the sweet spot between accessible and experimental."

  1. Bozar transforms into a nightclub

Not only our club hall Terarken is bathed in a club atmosphere. The entire Palace of Fine Arts dims the lights for Club Night. The Henry Le Boeuf hall will be converted for a standing audience and the bars will be open continuously. Looking for more cosiness? In the Horta Hall, there are even pillows to plop down in.

  1. Seven artists, four rooms

Let's take a look at our line-up. Corto.alto interweaves diverse musical styles - from hip-hop, broken beat, dub and punk - through jazz. The masked Ruth Goller hypnotises with a macabre set. Space Afrika overlays their music with samples and dialogues. And Sweden's Klara Lewis mixes field recordings with drifting rhythms into hybrid soundscapes. A ticket to Club Night gives you access to all the concerts and shows, but please bear the limited capacity of our auditoria in mind.

  1. Vlek Records represent !

No space is left unused during Club Night. Henry Le Boeuf's bar, for instance, will be occupied by Vlek Records. The Brussels-based label has been releasing techno, electro, modern classical and house for almost 15 years with a heart for Belgian musicians.  They help compatriots on the way across genres and borders. Musician and video artist Jean D.L. gets to open the evening and Marc Mélia - a mallorquín who emigrated to Belgium - presents his upcoming record Pièces Monophoniques.

  1. There’s something in the air

Don't be surprised when you enter the Henry Le Boeuf Hall. Robbrecht and Daem Architecten designed an impressive installation of cubes for Staging the Concert. During Alfa Mist's performance, they will float above your head. It will only push your experience to new heights!
