4 Reasons to Come to Abrupt Festival

Abrupt is a new annual festival that blends emerging, contemporary and unconventional music, visual arts and public discourse. From 9 - 13 October 2024, Bozar and Arty Farty Brussels present several musical performances, club events, talks & more. This is why you can’t miss the first edition of Abrupt Festival.

  1. Not one, but two opening concerts

Kevin Richard Martin (The Bug) and Joseph Kamaru (KRMU), two heavyweights from the ambient and dub world, launched a new duo with the 2024 album Disconnent. Danish composer and viola player Astrid Sonne uses both acoustic and electronic tools to construct a mood board blending extremes and will present her latest album, Great Doubt

  1. Unique venues in Brussels

Concerts for standing audience in Bozar's renovated Terarken hall, an ethereal set in St Michael and St Gudula Cathedral or club atmosphere in Reset's auditorium. Where can we find you this week?

  1. Music and visuals

The walls between music genres and art forms are knocked down during Abrupt. Pioneering musicians introduce experimental visuals into their sets. Kode9 interweaves pixelated images from the early PlayStation era with unbalanced club sounds. Visual artist, musician and DJ Mika Oki and producer SKY H1 join forces in the audiovisual show Chromaesthesia

  1. Double bills

The secret ingredient of Abrupt's recipe is double bills: two artists on the same night. So you always have the chance to meet a new artist alongside your favourite(s). Trumpeter Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah is followed by Berlin's Moses Yoofee Trio. Electro-organist Maxime Denuc and violinist Elisabeth Klinck go in search of higher powers in the cathedral. And Laurel Halo shares a love of electronically processed piano with Radio Hito.

Abrupt Festival takes place from 9 to 13 October 2024. Discover the full programme at www.abrupt.brussels.
