‘Eurotopie in Brussels’

3 July →
25 Nov.'18

How can architects contribute to the building of a democratic space? How can one learn from the supranational urban and architectural experimentations that is the European presence in Brussels? How can one measure the issues of Europe’s construction and the cohabiting challenges of the European quarter and of the city of Brussels?
These are the questions raised by the Belgian Pavilion’s curators of the Biennale di Architecttura which recently opened in Venice. For this year’s 16th edition, the Architecture Cell of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles was in charge of commissioning and producing the national pavilion. The choice was made for a young team involving Traumnovelle and Roxane Le Grelle.
With Eurotopie in Brussels, the idea is to activate the Belgian pavilion from a distance through a series of discussions, screenings and symposiums taking place at the Monts des Arts and organised in collaboration with the Académie des Sciences, des Lettres et des Beaux-Arts and BOZAR, where a ‘Salon Europa’ is inaugurated on July the 2nd.

Curators: Traumnovelle (Léone Drapeaud, Manuel León Fanjul, Johnny Leya) and Roxane Le Grelle
Contributions of artists: Bruce Bégout, Philippe Braquenier, Sébastien Lacomblez, Dennis Pohl, Claire Trotignon and 6’56” (Jurgen Maelfeyt)
