Philippe Braquenier

In presence of the photographer Philippe Braquenier, the graphic design 6’56” and Art Paper Editions.

On August 2nd, the Belgian photographer Philippe Braquenier (born 1985) will officially launch his first book Palimpsest at BOZAR.

The project explores the composition of conceptual and physical landscape of western knowledge and cultural heritage. By using photography and text as means of investigation, the project arises at the intersection of science and culture, natural and artificial, analogue and digital, visible and hidden. During five years, Philippe Braquenier travelled in Europe and photographed how material history is constantly transformed and added. As a consequence, he questions humanity’s methods of preserving historical documents – and knowledge in general.

The event will take place in the newly opened Salon Europa now hosting the Eurotopie exhibition, project realised for the Belgian pavilion of the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennial in which Philippe Braquenier actively collaborated. Some of his works are showcased in Venice.

The short presentation of the book will be followed by a book signing until 9pm. Those who have pre-ordered the book will be able to collect it then. Other copies will be on sale at the BOZAR BOOKSHOP by Walther König until 7.30pm.

The Bozar Open Air, hold by the Forest Guinguette, will welcome us for some refreshments and a place to relax outside.
