BOOMERANG
Step into the universe of mythical creatures and mysterious apparitions. Cameroon-born artist Pascale Marthine Tayou. It is the first time his work has been shown in Belgium. The exhibition BOOMERANG reveals Tayou’s monumental work of colourful linen, organic materials, wood, crystal figures and found objects. With his works, the artist address the ways in which we develop a national, geographic, financial and emotional identity in times of mass consumption. Tayou constantly draws similarities and differences between the many cultures and communities he has lived and worked among, and challenges us to do the same. Julia Peyton-Jones, Director of the Serpentine Galleries in London, with Co-Director and Curator Hans Ulrich Obrist have said about Tayou’s work: "His ingeniously crafted creations are imbued with a strange and alluring magic that has the power to bind us all".
