What if, suddenly, we were unable to draw power from the grid? Would all our 1950s fantasies of an automated luxury life evaporate? Would all tasks become manual work again, and would we have to reduce light, heat and travel to an absolute minimum?
Probably not. Citizens, companies and researchers are already experimenting with alternative ways to produce, store and distribute electricity. These initiatives make the future ready to use at the scale of a building, a neighbourhood or a whole city.

With an exhibition in Bozar, La Pile puts a spotlight on their experiences and the marvels of electricity as a source of inspiration for citizens to take power in our own hands.

La Pile is a City Mine(d) initiative that prepares the Brussels Midi neighbourhood for the day electric power no longer has to come from kilometers away over the gigantic grid.
