World Press Freedom Day
In 1993, the United Nations proclaimed 3 May as the “ World Day of Freedom of the Press”. This event is intended in particular to remind governments of their duty to guaranty freedom of expression. The latter reflects the democratic vitality and pluralism of a society. The Vrije Universiteit Brussel, the Université Libre de Bruxelles, the Erasmushogeschool Brussel, BOZAR, the Evens Foundation, and iMinds, have, along with other partners, dubbed this day “Difference Day” to honour the persons and organisations who make a difference by defending and promoting these values. On Tuesday 3 May, don’t miss the conferences, discussions, exhibitions, and films about this fundamental theme which concerns us all.
