‘Catherine Wood in conversation with Manuel Pelmus’

20 Apr.'17
- 19:00

Did you come away from a visit to the exhibition Yves Klein. Theatre of the Void intrigued by the work of this artist? And would you like to know more about the relationship between visual art and performance art? If so, you will enjoy this searching conversation between Tate Modern curator Catherine Wood and artist Manuel Pelmus. Following an introduction by Sophie Lauwers (Head of Exhibitions, BOZAR), they will be discussing the influence of Yves Klein and the value and palpability of the work of art. After the discussion there will be time for your questions.

Catherine Wood was instrumental in the founding of the performance programme at Tate Modern in London and has since gone on to programme more than 200 artists. She is interested in the specific relationship between visual art and choreography.

Manuel Pelmus is one of the most renowned international representatives of Romanian dance. He has a background in choreography, but has worked mostly within visual art contexts over the past couple of years. Together with Alexandra Pirici (with whom he created Untitled 2017 Ongoing Action at BOZAR and with whom he represented Romania at the Venice Biennale in 2013) he establishes a dialogue with works of art and transforms them into body language.
