‘A Young Poet – Damien Manivel’

Barely out of his teens, Rémi dreams of becoming a poet and thrilling the world with his powerful and unforgettable verse. Seeking inspiration in the oppressively hot city of Sète, pen and notebook in hand, Rémi is determined to write his poem… But where to begin? By spending hours contemplating the sea? Climbing a mountain? Listening to the birds singing? Going to the library? Finding his muse? In bars? In the cemetery? Underwater? Damien Manivel

Damien Manivel is born in Brest, France, in 1981. He has worked as a dancer and acrobat before his studies in cinematography at Le Fresnoy. He is the director and the screenwriter of his five short films. His The Lady with the Dog (2010) wins the Jean Vigo’s Award and A Sunday Morning (2012) is selected for The International Critics' Week at Cannes, and is awarded with the Prix Découverte at the International Critic’s Week in Cannes 2012. A Young Poet, his first feature film, gets the Special Mention at the Locarno Film Festival.
