‘When the Arts champion human rights’

Three 45-minute conversations will be the focal point of this event at the Centre for Fine Arts, which will bring together Giorgio de Finis, founder of the MAAM (Museum of the Other and Elsewhere in Rome), Renzo Martens, Artistic Director of the Institute for Human Activities (IHA) and Thomas Kilpper, creator of the 'A Lighthouse for Lampedusa' project. The three artists, whose unique initiatives explore art's tangible impact on the defence of human rights and of society's most vulnerable, challenge customary perceptions of art and the places it is put on display. The discussions around naivety, revolution, social involvement and contemporary relevance will be introduced and facilitated by Anne Boukris (Danish Centre for the Arts and Interculturality) as part of the Brussels Days.
