1st laureate Queen Elisabeth Competition 2017

For Victor Julien-Laferrière, the Centre for Fine Arts is synonymous with celebration! On the 3rd of June, the young French cellist won first prize at the very first Queen Elizabeth Competition for cello. He wowed the jury with his technique, which demonstrated staggering precision, accuracy and subjectivity, both during the prescribed work and in Shostakovich's First Concerto. The young award winner is back at BOZAR, this time in the company of Jonas Vitaud, a pianist lauded by the BBC Music Magazine for the "beauty of his phrasing". The evening promises to be a moment of musical elegance and grace.
