DIE ABENTEUER DES PRINZEN ACHMED

While riding his flying horse, Prince Achmed meets the beautiful fairy Pari Banu and falls in love with her. But Pari Banu is abducted by a wicked magician, who shackles Achmed to a mountain. A good witch who lives inside the mountain comes to Achmed's rescue. Together they attempt to free Pari Banu. To do so, Achmed needs Aladdin's magic lamp and a great deal of courage to face flying dragons and strange monsters. And the witch prepares to defeat her old enemy, the magician, in a duel.

In this first feature-length silhouette animation film in history, Lotte Reiniger and her cameraman Carl Koch created a graphic, oriental fairytale world, which set the standard for the development of animated film, and fascinates film lovers young and old even today. Not least a film that reminds us of the roots of cinema: shadow puppets, magic lantern. The film was produced in three years in Potsdam.

The film score is provided by Trioglyzerin with classical and oriental instruments.

Trioglyzerin

In 1992, musicians Ulrich van der Schoor (piano), Kristoff Becker (cello) and Tobias Becker (oboe) teamed up under the name Trioglyzerin to accompany live screenings of silent films. Their aim was not just to recreate the cinema atmosphere of that era. They wanted to use both traditional and electronic instruments to create an effective link between classical and modern.

Since then, Trioglyzerin has made a name for itself with many performances in Germany and abroad. The group has performed several times at the UFA film nights in Berlin. The musicians' experience with the most diverse ways of playing music provides every single film with its own striking musical illustration.
