Rising Stars Cité de la musique - Philharmonie de Paris & Festspielhaus Baden-Baden
Europe's leading concert halls, all members of the European Concert Hall Organisation, have this year again nominated exceptional musical talents as Rising Stars. The Philharmonie de Paris and the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden nominated the Van Kuijk Quartet. Hardly surprising, given that the French quartet has already scooped a string of prizes, including first prize at the Wigmore Hall String Quartet Competition in 2015. In addition to Schubert's world famous String Quartet No. 14, “Der Tod und das Mädchen” and Debussy's sensual String Quartet, Van Kuijk perform a brand new piece by Édith Canat de Chizy. This is the prize-winning French composer’s fourth string quartet: an ideal genre for her refined compositional skills.
