‘Quatuor Arod’

28 Feb.'18
- 20:00

For this concert, the Arod Quartet is seeking out the oldest and most recent pieces for string quartet. Haydn is invariably referred to as the spiritual father of the string quartet, whereas Benjamin Attahir is yet to turn 30. The young French composer's music, in which distinctly rhythmic passages alternate with surprisingly lyrical moments, has won several awards and been performed by some of the best artists in the biggest concert halls. Incredibly, Felix Mendelssohn was even younger than Attahir when he penned his String Quartet No 2. He wrote it at the age of 18, a few months after Beethoven's death, and the latter's influence is unmistakeable.

Al ‘Asr, string quartet is a commission from La Belle Saison, with the support of Proquartet – Centre européen de musique de chambre and the Quatuor Arod
