‘Philharmonia Orchestra’

27 Sept.'17
- 20:00

* Commissioned by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Gustavo Dudamel Music & Artistic Director and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra

The Finnish conductor and composer Esa-Pekka Salonen will be heading the legendary Philharmonia Orchestra to celebrate the 100th anniversary of his country's independence.  The programme obviously features Sibelius, Finland's musical soul, and his fascinating Seventh Symphony, in one movement. The programme also includes contemporary music, so important to Salonen, who will be conducting Daníel Bjarnason's Violin Concerto. Performing as a soloist is the phenomenal Pekka Kuusisto, who hails from a distinguished family of Finnish musicians.
