Malta. Land of Sea reflects the cultural diversity that is the foundation of the Maltese identity. With the omnipresence of the Mediterranean running through its history, influencing both practical life on the island and the world of the imagination, it is a sea that opens Malta to the world. The exhibition brings together some 60 works that have survived the centuries, some dating back to prehistory. Each item can be seen in isolation or in connection with the others for a dynamic understanding of the history and soul of an island rooted in cultural hybridization. And what if land, far from being the opposite pole of sea, was rather its extension or, better still, its culmination?
