Five writers will guide the audience to the painting of their preference in the Fernand Léger. Beauty is everywhere exhibition. Meanwhile they will read literary texts inspired by the work of Léger.
Geneviève Damas (1970, Brussels) is a Belgian actress, director and author. Her novel Si tu passes la rivière won five literary awards. Her latest novel, Patricia, was published by Gallimard in 2017.
Hazim Kamaledin (1954, Babylon) fled Iraq in the late 1970s. Following various travels, he settled in Belgium where he was appointed artistic director of two theatre companies. His successful novel Schoonheid raast in mij tot ik sterf (2017) was nominated for the Arab Booker Prize.
Marc Reugebrink (1960, Goor) is a writer, poet and essayist. He was born in the Netherlands but has lived and worked in Ghent for many years. His third novel Het grote uitstel won the Gouden Uil award in 2008. Reugebrink writes a blog on reugebrink.skynetblogs.be.
Niña Weijers (1987, Nijmegen) studied literature in Amsterdam and Dublin. Her debut novel De consequenties (2014) won the Anton Wachter Award, the Gouden Boekenuil reader's award and the Opzij Literature Award. It was also shortlisted for the Libris Literary Award.
Isabelle Wéry (Liège) is a Belgian writer, actress and theatre director. In 2008 she won the Prix de la Critique de Théâtre Belge for her play La tranche de Jean-Daniel Magnin. Her novel Marilyn Désossée (2013) earned her the European Prize for Literature.
