The questions asked by young women of today find an answer in the words of young women from last century:

Lievito madre (Mother yeast) intertwines three generations and mixes the story of the filmmakers with that of the women who have had a major influence on our era. 

The interviews with these big personalities, be they famous or anonymous, family home videos of us, our mothers, our grandmothers – the words of the young women interviewed, all of this uncovers a story which tells our own story, one single voice which is made up of a thousand voices: the mother yeast of the title which has made us who we are.
