Schumann & Brahms - Piano & Forte

For his first performance at BOZAR as a ‘portrait artist’, the South African fortepiano player Kristian Bezuidenhout is backed by a number of outstanding musicians, such as Lorena Borrani, Simone Jandl and Nicola Boud. Together they will offer you a taste of the chamber music of two German grandmasters: Johannes Brahms and Robert Schumann. Brahms’ Third Piano Quartet is joined by Schumann’s Studien für den Pedal-Flügel which shows a strong affinity with Johann Sebastian Bach and his Piano Quintet: possibly the first romantic highlight in this genre. They will close with Schumann’s Märchenerzählungen for the unusual combination of clarinet, alto violin and pianoforte.
