‘Katharina Smets and Inne Eysermans (Amatorski) bring the audio documentary ‘Detroit Detour’’

27 Oct.'15
- 19:00

Detroit, once the crowning glory of the American car industry, now a detour no one wants to make. Detroit has become a ghost town with an unenviable reputation for arson and high crime rates. But change appears to be in the air. Some people are stubbornly clinging to the beauty of decay and purposively using art to improve Detroit. Katharina Smets wanders around by herself and finds out how ordinary Detroit residents are dealing with their bankrupt city. At times unlucky, as things are not always what they seem. And, at other times, she discovers beauty in the most unexpected places.

Inne Eysermans and sound artist Katharina Smets unravel the city of Detroit using language, voices, city soundscapes and a well-told narrative.

BANG! Imaginative City Festival curated by Saskia De Coster

This event is part of the imaginative city festival BANG! Curated by Saskia De Coster. Due to the construction work currently being undertaken, KultuurKaffee has opted for a nomadic existence and, together with a guest curator, assembles twice a year a multidisciplinary programme of events at various locations dotted around the city of Brussels. Autumn 2015 sees author Saskia De Coster welcoming her festival guests at Bozar.
