‘Justin Taylor & Concerto Köln - Bach Sampling Vivaldi’

9 Feb.'22
- 20:00

Johann Sebastian Bach discovered Italian music during his time in Weimar, where he became acquainted with the works of Albinoni, Marcello and Vivaldi, among others. He was so impressed by the melodic ingenuity of these Italians that he decided to make transcriptions of some of their concertos. Therefore he transformed some of their concertos for melodic instruments for harpsichord, adding harmonic texture as well. In this concert, Justin Taylor plays some of these arrangements and also literally follows in Bach's footsteps: he ventured into transcribing a violin concerto by Vivaldi for harpsichord himself.
