‘Julia Fischer’

Eugène Ysaÿe was one of the greatest violinists of his day. His years of study under Wieniawski and Vieuxtemps are largely to thank for this. He also devoted his time to composing, and the Six sonatas for solo violin op. 27 are perhaps his finest achievement. Each one of the sonatas was dedicated to a young violinist; the work brings together six totally different worlds each reflecting the style of the musician it was destined for. Julia Fischer who, at thirty-three years of age, has already been performing on the biggest international stages for almost 20 years, is more than capable of taking up the challenge. The numerous prizes she has been awarded and the fact that she obtained a teaching post at the Frankfurt Conservatory – the youngest ever to be appointed in Germany (she was just 22 years of age) – only confirmed what the critics and the public had already seen: total commitment, perfect technical mastery and a range of emotions that she manages to convey like none other.
