Cinemaximiliaan is a pop-up cinema for refugees. The project started in September 2015 in the Maximiliaan Park in Brussels, with a screen and a projector under a tarp, right in the middle of the refugee camp. Now, thanks to the commitment of a growing group of volunteers, screenings take place everyday in the Maximilianhall and in other refugee centres. These screenings bring light to the long, dark evenings. Through cinema newcomers also find a way into our society. Cinemaximiliaan is a place to meet, exchange and share time. Now the initiators of the project would like to expand it to refugee centres across Belgium, where there is a huge need to relax and exchange. In order to be able to project movies in centres across the country, a crowdfunding campaign was started. By hosting this screening, BOZAR would like to support Cinemaximiliaan.
Io sto con la sposa (On the Bride's Side) - Antonio Augugliaro, Gabriele Del Grande & Khaled Soliman Al Nassiry (Italy/Palestine, 2014, 98', Original version Italian and Arabic, subtitled Arabic and English). In order to get a group of Palestinian and Syrian war refugees across the barred frontiers of Europe from Milan to Sweden, a Palestinian poet and an Italian journalist set up a stratagem: a fake wedding march with his bride and guests. Which police officer would get the idea of asking them their identity papers? This emotionally charged journey not only brings out the stories and hopes and dreams of the five Palestinians and Syrians and their rather special traffickers, but also reveals an unknown side of Europe – a transnational, supportive and irreverent Europe that ridicules the laws and restrictions of the Fortress in a kind of masquerade which is no other than the direct filming of something that really took place on the road from Milan to Stockholm from the 14th to the 18th of November 2013.

شاعر فلسطيني سوري وصحفي إيطالي يعيشان في مدينة ميلانو وفي خضم وصول قوافل المهاجرين السوريين والفلسطينيين إلى المدينة يلتقيان في ميلانو بخمسة مهاجرين سوريين وفلسطينيين كانت قواربهم رست على شواطئ لامبيدوزا بعد هروبهم من الحرب. يقرر الصديقان مساعدة هؤلاء اللاجئين الخمسة بتهريبهم إلى السويد فيضعان لذلك خطة جريئة: ستتم الرحلة على أنها زفة عرس تجول أوروبا ليتجنبا بذلك إثارة الشبهات. فيتصلان بصديقة فلسطينية ستأخذ دور "العروسة" متنكرة بثوب الفرح الأبيض، وسيسارع أصدقاء إيطاليون كثر، للانضمام إلى الزفة على أنهم المدعوون. وهكذا ستعبر القافلة حوالي الثلاثة آلاف كيلومتر ضمن قارة أوروبا خلال أربعة أيام. هي رحلة محفوفة بالمخاطر والتشويق، تروي قصص المهاجرين الخمسة الهاربين وأحلامهم، وقصص مهربيهم، وتتكشف أثناء الرحلة أسراراً جديدة عن القارة العجوز، وعن تضامن شبانها وقدرتهم على تخطّي حدودهم الوطنية والاستخفاف بالقوانين المتزمتة والمراقبة الأمنية، وذلك كلّه لغايات إنسانية بحتة. رغم أنّ الرحلة وليدة الخيال، لكنها ليست إلا سرداً مباشراً لوقائع جرت أحداثها بالفعل على طريق ميلانو –ستوكهولم بين الرابع عشر والثامن عشر من شهر نوفمبر – تشرين الثاني عام 2013
