‘Interactive lecture: Hildegard von Bingen, myth and role model’

21 May'16
- 16:00

by Els Janssens-Vanmunster (Ensemble Mora Vocis)

This interactive, bilingual (French and Dutch) talk focuses on Hildegard von Bingen, a 12th-century Benedictine nun, mystic, and highly talented composer, whose works are performed in the world's great concert halls and have inspired many contemporary composers. Foundress of several convents, medical doctor, and writer, she was named a Doctor of the Church by Pope Benedict XVI in 2012 – an exceptional, extremely rare distinction for a woman. Don't miss this opportunity to explore the work of a great Christian witness. If you like, moreover, you can get to know her music better in a fun exercise that teaches you to sing an extract from one of her liturgical chants (experience not required).
