Stories Of Neighbours

Proposed as part of our Close-up devoted to Ila Bêka and Louise Lemoine, The Infinite Happiness is an exceptional architectural experience. The film takes us to the heart of one of these contemporary residential complexes considered to be a new model of success: the giant "8 House”, which was designed in 2009 by Danish architects BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group on the outskirts of Copenhagen. Ila Bêka and Louise Lemoine tell the story of their month-long immersion in this vertical village, voted “Housing Building of the Year" in 2011. Like a Lego set, the film builds a collection of life stories, all linked by their personal relationship with the building. By showing the surprising results of this innovative social model, the filmmakers question the capacity of architecture to create a collective.

For more than fifteen years, the artist-videographer, producer and editor duo Ila Bêka and Louise Lemoine - aka Bêka & Lemoine - have been making their mark on the international architectural scene with a body of work renowned for its innovative nature and tender yet caustic humour.
