+ Iftar (Ramadan meal) offered by BOZAR & Moussem
The Syrian clarinettist and composer Kinan Azmeh has performed all over the world, from Japan and New York to Berlin and Hamburg where they played at the opening of the new Elbphilharmonie Concert Hall. Soon, in Brussels, he and the soprano Dima Orsho will be transporting you to the grieving Syrian war zones with their moving compositions.
Kinan Azmeh went to both the Juilliard School and Damascus University. He played alongside Daniel Barenboim, Zakir Hussein, Francois Rabbath and many others. In 2017 his work with Yo-Yo Ma and Kayhan Kalhor was awarded a Grammy for Best World Music Album.
As “the most talented artists from the Damascus contemporary music scene”, Azmeh and Orsho, joined by Jasser Haj Youssef (viola d'amore) and the Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia, will be performing brand new work on Saturday 3 June 2017 in the Centre for Fine Arts.. Get ready for recent and brand new compositions by Kinan Azmeh.
Take a look at the conversation between Kinan Azmeh and Yo-Yo Ma about ‘Art in a Time of Crisis’.
