Two years after his BOZAR residence, Herbert Schuch is back again for a concert requiring both agility and versatility. Once again the German-Romanian pianist has devised a skilfully crafted programme, combining Johann Sebastian Bach, the symbolic figurehead of the Bach Heritage festival, and his 20th century heirs. Claude Debussy created his Preludes to echo those composed by Frédéric Chopin, which, in turn, were inspired by the homonymous works of the Cantor of Leipzig. Pierre Boulez and Ferruccio Busoni shared a taste for contemporary adventure, while maintaining a powerful bond with the music of Bach, the epitome of formal musical perfection.
On the occasion of the Bach Heritage festiva, BOZAR LITERATURE has asked a number of poets to write a poet on Bach for the publication of "Thirteen Ways of Looking at J.S. Bach".
