Organ Recital at the Cathedral
Organist Helmut Deutsch was invited by BOZAR for a world-class solo concert on the Brussels cathedral organ. The programme includes Bach and Brahms as well as Julius Reubke, who studied under Liszt. Although he died of tuberculosis at the age of 24 the young man succeeded in composing one of the most phenomenal organ works of the classical organ repertoire. Deutsch pours all of his creative enthusiasm into his performance, which is moving, dramatic and inspiring. His musical phrases sing, and he accentuates the drama of the forte sections. A phenomenal Reubke sonata, exactly as you would expect.
