Past and Present of Arab Societies through Women’s Lenses
Almost 50 years of cinema created by women filming women. This is the subject of Halaqat Film Days, held at Bozar as part of Halaqat, in partnership with the Goethe-Institut, the Mahmoud Darwish Chair and the Cinemamed Festival. This autumn, Halaqat Film Days celebrates the old and the new generation of Arab women directors and actresses. Visitors will discover recent films and productions from the past thanks to a programme that creates a dialogue between the works and the different generations of women directors. Halaqat Film Days highlights the differences and similarities in the portrayal of women's and men's bodies over time and the aesthetic currents that have run through the history of cinema in this region of the world.
