‘Georgian voices’

26 Oct.'23
- 20:00

Bozar and europalia invite no fewer than three prestigious choirs from the Georgian capital Tbilisi to introduce you to the richness of Georgian polyphony. Typical of this orally transmitted, polyphonic song culture is the freedom to adapt the songs to contemporary compositional techniques. The result is a particularly lively repertoire with a rare power of musical expression. So clearly, UNESCO was justified in recognising this exceptional Georgian polyphony as intangible heritage in 2001. Let yourself be amazed by these unique chants of which Ioseb Kechakmadze is the main exponent.
