‘Freiburger Barockorchester & Philippe Jaroussky’

29 Jan.'17
- 20:00

There can be no dispute of the fact that Bach wrote deeply moving passions and cantatas. Not commonly known, perhaps, is that his contemporary and compatriot Georg Philipp Telemann set episodes from the life of Christ to some astounding pieces of music. Indeed, the quality of Telemann's music is so high that several of his cantatas were for a long time attributed to Bach. The Freiburger Barockorchester, led by Petra Müllejans, brings us a choice selection of rich religious music by the two composers. And what soloist would be better able to interpret this heartrending music than Philippe Jaroussky, possibly the best contratenor of the day?
