‘Europe and the other’

2015-2016

Four debates on Europe facing a globalised world

Europe is clearly finding it difficult to find its place in a new, so-called “globalised”, world. What relationship has Europe managed to define in regard to the other or “others” so that its place – which cannot be the same as in the past – is clear to itself and to others? Four debates centred around the core subject of identity-otherness will attempt to answer this difficult question. Underlying them is the idea that the analysis of the relationship with the other makes it possible to shed light on what we, Europeans, are today and will be tomorrow.
