The Middle East, the Caucasus, India, China, the Far East… Many Orients have arrived at our borders. In this case the other is present in many forms that combine wealth and extreme poverty, political archaism and economic development. This multipolar world calls into question the very idea of European modernity as well as its vision of history that, to date, has seen European expansion between the 16th and 19th centuries as the origin of the contemporary world.
