The Dutch-Finnish trio Peltomaa Fraanje Perkola immerse the listener in an esoteric and timeless sound bath. With viola da gamba, medieval harp, the human voice and electronic sound effects, they blend Finnish folk songs and music from the Middle Ages with jazz and contemporary compositions. At Klarafestival, they will perform a selection from their debut album ÆR, which combines the liturgical songs of the 12th-century composer and mystic Hildegard of Bingen with 13th-century pilgrimage songs, Gregorian melodies and newly-created work. They will also offer a glimpse of their latest, not-yet-released album in which they embellish compositions from the distant past with their own improvisations.
