‘Equality makes us stronger’

19 Nov.'15
- 20:00

Conference by Prof. Richard Wilkinson

Even though we see the rich getting richer, we are failing to tackle poverty. How can we change this?

Richard Wilkinson (GB-1943) is a British social epidemiologist. He is professor emeritus of Nottingham University. He co-founded The Equality Trust. His most famous book is The Spirit Level, Why Greater Equality Makes Societies Stronger (with Kate Pickett). He argues that societies with more equal distribution of incomes have better health, fewer social and are more cohesive than ones in which the gap between the rich and poor is greater.

The lecture will be followed by a discussion between Professor Wilkinson and Jan-Frederik Abbeloos, journalist with De Standaard.
