‘Dieste - Heinz Emigholz’

The last in the “Streetscapes” series, Dieste [Uruguay], also films around edifices. In 2015, Heinz Emigholz went to Uruguay and Spain to document the works of architect Eladio Dieste (1907–2000). The prologue highlights three of Julio Vilamajó’s buildings, constructed in Montevideo in the 1930s. These are followed by 29 of Dieste’s edifices: brick roofs with elegant curves which blend into nature and history. As his camera lingers over images tinged with tranquillity, Emigholz films these constructions from every angle. Just like the other parts of the “Streetscapes” series, this documentary has very little commentary.
