When his best friend and drag sister suddenly couples off and moves away, Judy, an ambitious New York drag queen determined for the limelight must reinvent himself or risk becoming an irrelevant solo act both onstage and off. With this dark comedy, Todd Flaherty explores the universal pain of breaking up with your best friends and questions, “What do you do when your chosen family no longer chooses you?”
Chrissy Judy is being screened at Bozar as part of our program Our Burning World: Love is Louder, which features a series of films for those looking to explore love in all its forms.
After his successful web series challenging HIV stigma, Todd expanded his talents by writing, directing, and starring in his debut film Chrissy Judy. Shot in black-and-white, the film tenderly explores the queer and drag community with complex, lovable characters. It gained global praise at festivals in 2022 and saw a wider release in 2023.
Now based in Provincetown, after years in NYC's theater scene, Todd is focused on writing and developing new projects.
