‘Casting - Nicolas Wackerbarth’

In his film Casting, Nicolas Wackerbarth follows Vera, a director in search of the ideal cast for the remake of Fassbinder’s film, The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant. The casting itself is staged, some of the actors lose their sang-froid, others see a golden opportunity. Wackerbarth gets stuck into the numerous facets of Fassbinder’s work all the while offering an in-depth work which is typical of his style. Casting is both perspicacious and entertaining, punctuated with new developments, tinged with humour, characterised by the remarkable set of actors who work so well together.
