Soloists Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel

The Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel offers promising young soloists from around the world a place to develop their talent, where they are trained by eminent teachers and some of the world’s leading soloists. This year, we have the pleasure of welcoming the Korean violinist Hyeonjin Cho and the French pianist Jonathan Fournel. They will perform two works from the German Romantic repertoire: the recital starts with Johannes Brahms’s Violin Sonata No. 2, a gloriously lyrical work that is pervaded by melancholic themes, which are a signature of his music. They will then play Schumann’s Violin Sonata No. 2, which Joseph Joachim, one of the most prominent violinists of his time and also a close friend of Brahms, qualified as “one of the finest compositions of our times”.
