‘BOZAR NEXT GENERATION’

Maarten Vandenbemden’s father started giving him guitar lessons from a very young age. Later on, at the music academy in his home town of Tervuren, he would also study the piano, organ, harmony and chamber music. In 2011, after winning first prize in the guitar category and second prize in the composition category at the national Dexia Classics competition, Maarten was admitted to the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. There he studied guitar with Antigoni Goni and studied for his Master’s. He forms the Duo Adentro along with pianist Saskia Van Herzeele. Both musicians share a fascination for the possibilities of music theatre and the encounter between music and other art forms.
