‘Bozar Arcade: Gabriel Massan’

Bozar Arcade is back for its 3rd edition! This edition focuses on one major game in the field. Third World: The Bottom Dimension was created by artist Gabriel Massan and collaborators and released in 2023. After stopping at Pinacoteca São Paulo, Ars Electronica festival Linz and MAAT in Lisbon, it comes to Bozar for another stop of its international tour. 

The video game is a fantastical and thought-provoking proposal, inviting visitors to navigate a new world through lenses of decolonialism and decentralisation. Third World: The Bottom Dimension reflects self-representation challenges and makes us rethink the ways in which we understand and orient ourselves in the world. 

Gabriel Massan is a multidisciplinary digital Brazilian artist born in 1996, today based in Berlin. They have a strong interest in Latin-American culture and questions of inequalities, marginalization, and the subversion of traditional narratives.

The game was commissioned and produced by Serpentine Arts Technologies, in association with the Julia Stoschek Collection, and powered by Tezos. It received additional support from ​​​​​​​EDP Foundation / MAAT, Lisbon.
