The American-Venezuelan Gabriela Montero, known for her briliant improvisations, is soloist in Grieg's Piano Concerto, the only one he wrote for his favourite instrument and that was an immediate success. After the break there is a performance of Shostakovich's first symphony, composed after Stalin’s death.
