‘Alissa Margulis, Lily Maisky’

Attention - Change of venue !

Alissa Margulis has a “strong musical personality”, says Martha Argerich. And who are we to disagree? The facts speak for themselves. Margulis is a regular performer at venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Musikverein in Vienna and the Tonhalle in Zurich. Several recordings by Margulis and Argerich have been nominated for a Grammy Award. The violinist joins Lily Maisky for this concert to perform works by two compatriots: Dmitri Shostakovitch and Sergei Prokofiev. The latter's Second Violin Sonata is sheer genius: spectacular and particularly lyrical. Shostakovitch, too, is at his most melancholic and melodic in his 10 Préludes, an arrangement of Shostakovitch’s original 24 Preludes for piano solo by violinist Dmitri Tsyganov. The two Russian pieces tie in perfectly with the romantic music of Dvořák and Strauss.
