Alejandro Vargas is one of those incredible musicians that are able to combine effortless technique with profound musicality. Add to these qualities a unique sense of rhythm: a real asset for this Cuban pianist who merrily mixes jazz, popular Cuban music, minimalism, improvisation and experimentation. Alejandro Vargas owes his expertise and taste for exploration to his mentors, the jazz composer Joel Rodríguez Milord, the pianist Ulises Hernández and Harold Gramatges, a real pioneer of contemporary Cuban music. He has also followed masterclasses by living legends such as Herbie Hancock, Chucho Valdés, Danilo Pérez and Jorge Luis Prats.
