‘Abdel Rahman El Bacha & Astrig Siranossian’

6 Oct.'22
- 20:00

Two talented musicians celebrate the encounter between East and West in this recital linked to the Alexandria: Past Futures exhibition. French Lebanese pianist Abdel Rahman El Bacha and French Armenian cellist Astrig Siranossian met at charity concerts in support of Lebanon after the Beirut harbour explosions of 4 August 2020. For this concert, in addition to the sublime Romance by Toufic El Bacha (Abdel Rahman's father) and pieces by Rahman himself, the duo plays a beautiful mix of Levantine and European music. Ludwig van Beethoven, the famous Armenian composer and ethnomusicologist Komitas Vardapet, Sergei Rachmaninoff and the Egyptian Mohamed Abdel Wahab - composer of Oum Kalthoum - are all part of their repertory.
