prizewinners "Super Nova"

The Zerkalo Quartet is a Belgian string quartet. Founded in 2013, it won the (Belgian) Supernova competition one year later. This year, the quartet has been in residence in the Limousin region of France, for a project organised by ProQuartet, which provides professional training in chamber music. In this concert, the Zerkalo presents a varied programme, which includes Haydn's "Emperor" Quartet, a work that owes its nickname to the stately, moving melody in its second movement. Haydn had earlier used that melody for an imperial hymn dedicated to Emperor Franz II; later, the German national anthem would be based on it.
