The Young Pope tells the tale of the start of the reign of Pius XIII, born Lenny Belardo, the first American pope in history. A young pope that was complex and difficult to manipulate, his conservatism courted the most archaic obscurantism, and yet overcome with compassion for the poorest and most vulnerable. A charismatic and unpredictable man, with immense power, who refused to be influenced by the courtiers of the Vatican.
